Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Manager suddenly asks for my total yrs experience before qualcomm

As title suggests manager suddenly asks me total years of experience before qualcomm on a teams chat. When i asked why he mentioned that its for AR24. They want to be fair to all employees and give recognition based on contributions and years of experience. Im worried. Is this possible data collection for a layoff.

OP: I think you should be fine. You are probably being considered for a promo and your line mgr has a mandate to accurately document your relevant experience (key word relevant).

As someone with decades of experience: If you aren't prepared for a layoff, you are living in an inexperienced fantasy. They are a fact of life. Keep working, just be prepared (like the old Boy Scout motto).

It's impossible to read anything specific into that. Regardless, it's always wise to be prepared for a layoff (financially secure, updated resume, updated contacts, etc.).

They ask employees to update their experience every review period.
