RTO 5 DAYS

does anyone know if they willbe requiring 5 days a week in the office soon. My group does not callaborate at all and is useless going in 3 days. Makes no sense just aggravating the drive in work on your own and leave. same as you can do at home and be more productive. I want Ford to thrive but you have to have happy employees

Managers don't how who does the work or what work is important. If they see butts in seats, they know somebody in the group must be doing something, even if they don't know who it is or what is being done.

What studies? Who paid for them? If academic, who financed the grants?

The push for RTO is from greedy governments who want taxes, oil companies who want to sell more fuel, commercial real estate investors and their banks who need their empty offices paying rent.

And, commuting daily just to give psychopath managers the warm and fuzzies is harmful to the environment.

Who thinks they will make remote people move though? The department I'm in has a lot of fully remote (aka, never been to Michigan) people.

UnSE will require all its workforce to work on-site (ATNPC. PDC, AEC, etc.) 6 hours on Saturdays to compensate for missing hours during the week while WFH. All his Chief Engineers at the staff meeting agreed with Director's idea. As usual, UnSE will show that they go above and beyond VP Chucky Cheese and WHQ HR requested (5 days a week on-site).
LL2 mentioned his experience in the early 90's when he started working for ATO and everybody worked every Saturday. He thinks that it will improve morale and productivity from all UnSE Engineers. He is a candidate to replace Chucky Cheese

There is no question RTO 5 days per week will benefit the company significantly. Expert studies have shown with data proving this fact. DF was talking about this year's ago, and finally the holdouts in Ford leadership are listening.

Yes, I was out having beers with my LL4 friend who loves me thus making me layoff proof. He said that everyone will have to come into work with the exception of people who are friends with management.

Yes, our LL4 told us the plan is 5 day starting in the new year. Some sites will take longer as there are space issues. Another team here in Ottawa has been full time since March. It did not have the dire consequences everyone on here claims will happen. I know at least 2 people in that group who threatened to quit before RTO but both of them stayed when the found out other companies were going to make them come into the office too.

The dream is over, or soon will be.

OP, if your team has no need to be RTO 3, never mind 5 days, then your team will soon be LCC. Figure it out, get back in the office.

The whole 'collaboration' is just management bs in order to want to lord over people. Before COVID we spent our days jumping from Webex to Webex just trying to keep up. Every group I have been in for over 20 years doesn't work together as we all have our own roles interfacing cross functionally as well as globally. Groups are just departments where types of work is binned. The idea that a group has to sit together is outdated and ridiculous. It just shows how management is clueless on how work actually gets done. My work is nothing like the work of others in my group so driving in to sit together is a waste of time and money.
