Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Are you also hoping to be laid off?

This has become the most depressing place. I’ve recently started looking for another job. If it all works out as I hope, being simultaneously laid off would be a win-win.

That’s what I’m doing. Quiet quitting until the 10% list comes out.

You can stay and take it with the justification of 'hey its a pay check' ! Or, you can drive for change and stop the nonsense and complaining. For me I would love to comfront HR and then the ETL team just to see how far I could take it before they try to fire me. But here is the real issue - TIME is way more valuable than any paycheck you will ever get. IF your time is not valuable then just stay but as we've been taught - Time is money! And while you sit in complacency, opportunities are happening around you.....wonder how many life changing events you just missed?

Culture has gone downhill.
Everyone is nervous thinking they'll be in the 10% October cuts so not working anymore
Water cooler talk is about interview tips
Everyone asking everyone else to provide recommendations on their linkedin profile

Yep, everyone is depressed and looking to leave. Some are even choosing to leave without a role lined up because the workplace is so bad now.

People are just sick and tired of hearing all the DEI rubbish and would rather hear about plans to save their jobs and thus give them the ability to place food on their families table.

If you really know how Teradata works, like not just that it's an MPP, but more into the guts of the product and technology, you can easily join any effort (working for a competitor, SI or yourself) to help with reverse migrations. You will be fine.

As a former employee my advice would be to not have Teradata on your resume. You'll be much more successful in your job search.

Job market is pretty awful. Your timing could be too late. Very little of your TD experience will be useful elsewhere unless it’s related to takeout of Vantage. No companies act/behave quite like the ELT does so unlearn the bad habits they have spread to you. Deprogramming is a must.

Do those that have been with the company for less than a year still get severance if they are let go?

Sometimes the timing can work out. But you need to get them to pay the severance. They are hoping that you'll just leave. But make them pay for their failures.

Got six months severance when laid off three years ago and got a new job in three weeks. Loved half a year of double dipping!

Bring it on Baby! Good luck, I think a lot of us are of the same mind. This place is an absolute $hit$how - the a$$clowns who are allegedly running this joint are an absolute disgrace. If the economy was in a better shape there would already have been a mass exodus.
