You're going to have to convince yourself to follow your own direction because it ain't coming from your leadership. Ride out the storm doing what you can't to get through or get busy finding another place. Leave the ambiguity for someone else.
Everyone should be working as if they will be laid off at any time and that their company doesn't care about them. Work for your own interests.
