Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Volunteering for redundancy

Wondering if many have been successful in getting laid off, after asking for it, and how long it took to be actioned?

Worked for me
And hopefully saved someone else who might have been in a tough situation

LoL. The fictitious stories here of people who fell on the sword to save others.
Bunch of dell lifers bargaining for their jobs is pathetic.

It worked for me as well. Hopefully it saved someone else’s job.

I told my manager in March that I'd be happy to leave and was laid off a few weeks ago.

"Last week, I told my manager". I did exactly the same - it worked for me (although it was some time ago). UK region.

I had my manager put my name on the list in July and was let go in September.

Last week, I told my manager, if he had a vote in who to layoff, that I want to be on that list as I plan to leave (as in retire) next year. He agreed to keep my request quiet as I really don't want anyone else to know yet as my plans are not finalized. Better me than a younger co-worker who does not want to be let go.
