I’m new to Stellantis, less than a year here. Engineer, and this is my second job only. I actually like my job, but I’m not sure if it would be better to stick around for now or go elsewhere. Whole car industry seems to be in a somewhat of a crisis. Some companies, however, have been coping better. In that respect Stellantis seems to be fumbling around.

Do yourself a favor a go to a different industry. Auto will always be inconsistent and unstable...like the oil industry.
I want to reinforce what @1odi+1uYe7Pe8 said. I would use this opportunity to learn a ton of skills and get as much training and experience in the company that you can. Right now things are going to be difficult and probably stay that way for another year or more. However, I want to be very clear that the US, Canadian, French, and Italian governments won't let the company go under. The unemployment crisis that would cause would be politically unsustainable.
I also want to reinforce that IF the French do sell the American part of the business the fact that the management structures and labor structures have been gutted mean that there will be a TON of management and hiring opportunities that will be preferentially given to internal employees. If you can stick it out because you like your work or the benefits I would recommend it because they NEED an american office and american engineers. India, France, Italy, etc. haven't been able to succeed here because culturally everything is very different.
I was laid off once in the finance industry and then once in the auto industry. These things happen no matter what type of work you do. And every time, people blow them way out of proportions. My advice is that if you really like your job, stick around. If you aren't too crazy about it, look somewhere else. The major changes at this point are behind us at our level. And the nice thing is that if you stick around, there is a lot of good to look forward to on the other side. So many people left that when things are good again there will be a ton of opportunities.
