Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Been here for 2 years, unsure if I should stay

I’ve been here for two years and am under 40; I want to earn and learn and grow my career as much as possible.

On the one hand, I have a hefty retirement plan that will vest soon enough and I could take that and run

On the other hand, I’m not sure if I’ll survive the next rounds of layoffs and I’m not really passionate about my work or being here. It’s a grind to get through every two weeks and I hope and pray that I make it to the next paycheck

I have received an offer for a lower LL in Body Engineering. Have a stable job currently, but the new offer is 30k more base, plus RSUs. Will need to relocate. Based of your experience, any advice ? What would be some of the biggest challenges and frustrations? I like to do a great job with what I do, drive for results, quality and get things done quickly.

If you are under 40 and have been at Ford for +=5 years you have wasted time. Vested or not...leave. No amount of Reserved Stock, bonuses, ect should sway your decision. If you stay beyond the 5yr threshold you are a chump.

Don’t wait for your alleged vesting. Leave now.

If you are under 40 and have been at Ford only 2 years, you do not have any pension that will “vest soon.”

Sounds like another BS post. You can not have accumulated that must retirement in 2 years at Ford relative to your previous 15-20 years of savings. If you just don’t like the work anymore, you have already decided you need to move on, why do you need anonymous people on the internet to motivate you more???

so wait until you are closer to the 3 years needed for vesting and start looking for a new job....
