Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

If the laid off employees are not being walked out, who will want to work?

I hear that those that get laid off next week won't be walked out right away like in past ACTs, but instead will be "allowed to stay till Nov 15th". Wtf does that mean? Who is going to want to work once laid off? The best case scenario is that they just don't show up for a month and then leave. I would be more worried about "disgruntled ex-employee incidents"...

Pat and the ELT don't have any idea how to do this. Don't have the respect nor the ba--s to get it over with quickly and move on.

"Weeks for redeployment are paused out instead"

Huh?

Do not think the affected people are expected to continue work after notification without accesses to work-related stuffs.

My guess is: Fired employees will be sent home w/ their phones & laptops to use for job hunting. All their job related EAM Privs., including badge & application, will be removed. They will keep building access for interviews, basic access to email/Teams & circuit/jobs online. Then after redeployment, those w/out a new Intel job will turn in their equipment, go home and collect their package, then live their post Intel life.

Fab workers will be walked because they can EMO all the tools

@jiy yeah but a data monkey can be equally damaging, if not more insidiously damaging.

I expect it depends on the job role. I can guarantee any fab monkeys like myself who get the boot, will not be allowed back in the fab. Let an angry fired employee back in the fab would just plain be stupid. I took all my sh-t home in preparation for getting fired next week.

Any one whose laid off yet still arrives to the office afterwards, deserves to be laid off

Intel has never kept fired employees around after the notification of termination. They have given a window of time in which people will be notified. If you get notified between 10/15 and 11/15 you will be out immediately upon notification.

They wouldn't be able to fire you within 4 weeks anyways. Add in some fake illness that lasts 2 weeks. There you go: last 4 weeks spent not working or passing anything down.

Wow is this the type of questions an Intel employee asks? If so, no wonder the company is failing. Think it through Op, it isn't a difficult problem.

Maybe the manager will take their badge and laptops, and just have them stay on payroll until mid-Nov - aka gardening leave.

Don’t passdown then it’s insubordination and one can be fired instead

But since there is no redeployment pool they should be walking people out. Feels like a security risk.

My understanding is there is no redeployment pool this round.

Yes that is correct and it’s a terrible plan. It will poison the already toxic well. Morale will be even lower than it is for a month. Productivity ultra low. It’s just asking for problems.

I think all you’re expected is to look for internal transfers

But yeah wtf would you do THAT?! Maybe during CPM1 but now?!
