Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

When people talk about Nielsen having great potential

what do they really talk about? They have managed over years to get rid of so much institutional knowledge and good, competent people who grew with the company and contributed to what Nielsen used to be, becoming along the way a run of the mill half-offshored company without any substance that makes it particularly special or specifically suited for anything. Am I missing something?

The business model is dead, technology has evolved and the need to send money to Nielsen is going away

Ah, the classic ‘Nielsen had so much potential’ narrative. Haven’t we heard this song before? Sure, they’ve made some interesting choices over the years, but at this point, it’s like beating a dead horse. Let’s be real—whatever ‘greatness’ was there, it’s been offshored along with everything else. But hey, maybe there’s still some magic left in the corporate ether? Or maybe we’ve all just outgrown this endless cycle of nostalgia. Time to move on, folks.
