Thread regarding CVS layoffs

No luck with job search so far. Any ideas?

I’ve been applying left and right for a while now, and most offers I got were worse compared to what I have here. I want to leave CVS. Being laid off in the near future with severance and all would just be a welcomed bonus. But I’m growing desperate with the lack of any comparable opportunities. At this point I wouldn’t mind expanding the search outside the industry. Any ideas would be welcomed.

I've posted about this in other threads. Regardless of how much you love or hate CVS, it's not, on average, better elsewhere. It may be different in ways you find attractive, but it is difficult for many to find a new role that overall is objectively a better total compensation package. I got a job offer early this year from another company but overall, it was worse, so I stayed.

If you haven't already expanded outside the industry in your job search, for sure do that. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. And at some point if you really want to leave you're going to need to decide how much that is worth to you and potentially take a reduction in pay or benefits somewhere to make it happen.

I went into USAF under a program for pharmacist. Surprisingly this route much nicer than CVS. Slight pay cut but it’s benefits made up for it.

unfortunately, pay is lower. I was laid off in 2023, and ended up finding a job with a $50k pay cut. But all the jobs I interviewed for, the pay was less - even for higher level roles. Not sure if this is true, but a recruiter told me a lot of people out of work, so lower pay. Inflation is high, so lower pay. Wishing you the best. Maybe get a side hustle while you continue to look and you might adjust the expectations on salary. Work your way back up once you land somewhere.

Posts like this are why I took on a second FT remote gig in 2022 and adjusted my savings upward to nearly $299k, paid off all my remaining debt and maxed out my 401k.. As a FTE with CVS Health, I know that all hope is lost, but I don't worry about it.. I do what I can and that's that.. sigh

I now collect a paycheck and relax until the bottom finally falls out.. honestly, your life is meant to be lived: companies don't care about you. They never did..

Look at city, county, state, and federal government jobs, the pay maybe lower to start but the pension & benefits can offset the pay.

Good luck
