Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Roles affected

Can’t believe it’s happening but also am concerned for those in other positions as well. How high up do these go..? Are directors being laid off too? I can’t even fathom having to start over now, I’m miserable at best but have been overworked for years.

Tilak's org had directors and above cut. part of that was his underlings brought in their people and once they learned the lay of the land, they cut the legacy directors and advisors that showed them the way initially. They also outsourced more than 1/2 of Tilaks org, so that created an excess of upper management with no one to manage, so they made cuts. Some of the same people who laid people off last year were laid off this year (good people both times, just doing what was dictated to them, I'm sure they knew it would come around to them eventually sadly).
It alternates, leadership cuts one year, then fte cuts the next year after teams are re-org-ed.
Run orgs level 1 & 2 have been outsourced, next round will prob see level 3 support get laid off as the outsource co. gets more entrenched unfortunately.

What departments are the directors from who are getting hit? Thankfully I seem to be safe.. for today. Who knows. Maybe best to try to jump ship before it even happens but for what..? To where?

CVS has a habit of hitting the higher reaches of middle management. Directors and AVPs who are older and have been around for sometime are hit.

This is all about the money. People like that are well paid and firing 2 or 3 Directors is the same salary saving as 5 or 6 lower levels. Save the money and make the blood lettering look good.

What happened at Caremark sometime ago when CVS did this was a bunch of these people let go at end of year. Then surprise the VPs who did the dirty work were all 'pursuing other interests' on Linkedin by April. Expect the same the people who fire them today will be fired a few months later once they make sure the left over people keep working.

Yes, I know several Directors that were affected, as well as an AVP and a Senior Director. From what I've seen (which is anecdotal, keep in mind), there's been more let go in that range of middle/upper management than in the individual contributor range. It's worth more to the company to get rid of higher level folks where salaries and bonus targets are higher and there's also normally a yearly equity bonus.

Ridiculous. This is all a huge disaster and I hope everyone finds something soon.

No exit interviews when laid off or resigned. Just goes to show these so called leaders don’t even care about making things better.
