Recently participated in a STEM conference in San Antonio TX and the biggest talking point was the complete absence of Boeing from the conference they sponsored and from their designated space at the career fair.

The career fair is a full day where we can stop and discuss career opportunities with a variety of companies including Tesla, Microsoft, Google, Armed Forces, Nike, literally every organization with STEM opportunities. Boeing is a long time sponsor of this conference and even rented space for the career fair but didn’t even show up, led to a lot of rumors about the outlook of Boeing…

It is because there is currently a hiring freeze and many who had start dates with Boeing post September 13 have had those dates adjusted both for IAM roles and salaried non-union roles. Many GTA and HR employees are also are currently furloughing 1 week off 3 weeks worked.
