Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Europe RTO

I’ve heard rumors that RTO will be mandatory in Europe for both Broadcom employees and contractors. If there’s no Broadcom office in your country, relocate to a different country.
Can anyone confirm this?

This is a constructive dismissal operation. They want people to quit under the stress so they can keep the number they have to layoff smaller for legally required reporting. If you are d-mb enough to relocate you will still get let go in an upcoming cut. This is what cra**y companies with unethical and immoral leaders do to their employees.

The writing is on the wall for all remote employees and migrant employees and managers and architects. There is more than one way to skin a cat. They cut the junior engineers already.

Morgan Stanley claims Amazon is considering laying off 14,000 managers from its 1.5 million-employee workforce. This is because the company is planning to reduce its managerial staff and it could lead to significant layoffs and cost-cutting measures.

In a memo, CEO Andy Jassy announced his intention to increase the proportion of individual contributors to managers by at least 15 percent by the end of the first quarter of 2025. Jassy further explained that reducing the number of managers will streamline the organisational structure, allowing Amazon to operate more efficiently and avoid bureaucratic delays.

All those managers who are harassing the population with ridiculous RTO and deadlines will be gone.

91% of polled Amazon staff unhappy with return-to-office, 3-in-4 want to jump ship

'Decisions like the one from Jassy are a big reason why I don’t want kids'

People should just enmass sell their stock and quit. The bubble will burst soon anyway. Amazon and Apple were both downgraded today.

OP here.
This is specific for the VCF BU and not the field BU.
Just got the talk, I’m out on Jan.
Countries with low attendance will get the offices closed and people will have the same fate.

Worker's council will love this.
Smells like constructive dismissal.
Feels like a bogus claim.

RTO is being used to silently layoff people without severance. Amazon and everyone is doing it. No secret. Oracle moved their HQ to Austin TX and then to Nashville TN. Every move sheds tons of people. Broadcom will also move to TX. The transnational global companies cannot be held to any jurisdiction and they are acting with impunity. The people do not matter. Save up and take care of yourself.
