Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Unionize NOW! Look at Ship Dock workers!

Let’s get started so we get it going and up and running on the 16th

Port strikers won. 63% wage increase over 4 years and guaranteed to not automate their jobs away.
Interesting how they came up with an average of $22 an hour increase when people got together. Hmmmmm interesting

It works …. And here come the downvotes!

So wait if not unionize then what is other option? What is the alternative. Continue status quo? All the posts here lately are pointing out how that can’t work

It’s easy for the exempts to scoff at such ideas since they’re paid 3-4X what a non exempt is paid for average total compensation. Unions don’t seem like the ultimate answer but being able to standup for ourselves would be nice. Non exempts are treated like slave by management.

If OKRs are prohibitive to getting collaboration, and getting buyoff and resourcing... imagine adding unions as another layer.

What a stupid idea. Starbuck's has 3% of stores unionized. Intel workers have much less power and are severely overpaid. Intel has no need for workers so threatening a union and striking during layoff is about the d-mbest idea imaginable.

Who is pushing this unionization idea? It will never happen. Is this the kind of smarts you find with Intel employees? I think it cannot be the norm.

A lot of posts saying how bad unions are or how unions will make it worse. Guys it’s already bad very bad here - how much worse can it get? Maybe we should try a different route and try to unionize. Because whatever we have going on now - it’s just not working. Just look around

To those outside Intel and who have never worked for the company, this thread is a terrific example of what it's like to work there.

@1iqe… you must be the d-mbest employee… how can you not see that a union would only make the situation worse. Unions might have a place in a company that is making a lot of money but not compensating the employees well. This isn’t the case with Intel. Intel is losing money and has been for a while. It is also on track to lose a lot more. Go ahead and start paying dues to another corrupt organization. It will just accelerate your demise.

Apparently you have read nothing about the scandals this union is involved in. Why don't you try getting a job as a longshoreman and GTFO.

A union would mean no innovation. That would mean no job in the semi industry. If you want to be out of a job a union is the way to go.

Intel is building in Ohio. If that plant is ever completed the people in that part of the country WILL UNIONIZE. You're welcome.

@1tgk

it would be for those who survived the ISP on the 16th you absolute fu--ing mo--n. Seriously dude shut up and take a seat. The adults are talking. You might be the d-mbest Intel employee there is. How are you not getting this or understanding?

Like Doc Workers, perhaps your union could also demand that no innovation be introduced into tasks that would displace people. This lack of innovation should suit Intel well

Good luck. You're non-essential if you work for Intel

@lsy, by November 16th all ISPd people will already be fired. Will the union represent you for collective bargaining with the unemployment office? It certainly won't get you your job back. I guess we know who the real dipsh-t is now...

By the time Intel is gone, the ports will still be there. Unionization is if not the last thing but definitely not the first thing to worry about now.

You are going to form a union in 10 days? No wonder you work for Intel...

Good comparison, highly lucrative port businesses vs Intel which is failing financially and losing market share. I bet you could really hold Intel managements feet to the fire to get everything you want... lol thanks for the laugh.
