Thread regarding Optum layoffs

The ONLY reason they call it a Change Healthcare data breach is because UHG/Optum doesn't want to own the fact that they did not harden the system architecture and the data was that of Change Healthcare that UHG/OPTUM owns. They didn't want to pay for additional system security and ignored it. When the Change Healthcare acquisition took place, (they bought them for the clearing house data) the Change Healthcare company was fully integrated (divested from the stock exchange) and NO LONGER existed as a standalone company and has not existed since it was acquired. The layoffs are NOT due to the Ransomware attack, the company has a record of buying companies to reduce competition or to acquire data and products. The company lays off to reduce expenses, increase profits and thereby boost shareholder value. It appears to be quarterly and sometimes monthly; it seems like it happens ALL THE TIME. It is a despicable, unethical organization that doesn't give a hoot about patients (they consistently and constantly deny much needed care), members (they continually limit benefits, increase premiums/reduce benefits and make providers jump through hoops to get procedures and medications approved), or their employees (who they do not well compensate, charge inordinate amounts for benefits and can't understand why employee surveys are low and are burned out), they ONLY care about profits and shareholders and the bonuses of those in the ivory tower and work to spin and twist responses to deceive regulators and the US Congress/Government.

The data breach is an excuse. Layoffs would still occur if the event never happened. Optum acquires and dismantles companies for market share. The event just accelerated the process. The other driver is the reduction in contract value for government operations. The recurring goal for UHG is to cull the herd by 10% per year. In January the game resets and repeats.
