Thread regarding Southern California Edison - SCE layoffs

Upcoming "Reorganization" for T&D

Email got sent out today that all T&D hybrid and remote workers have to WFH on Oct 7th-8th. The management is nervous, many will be on the chopping block as well. Expect another silent wave of layoffs.

Ugh... this su-ks. SCE knows how not to activate those WARN notices.

Sadly males with 30 yrs plus were the obvious target. This will leave a deep scar for future positions and the loss of experience will be gone forever. All in the name of politics and DEI

I am one of those affected by the layoffs. Primary driver for cutting costs is to pay off the bills accumulated during the recent wildfires; such as fixing burned infrastructure, unplanned emergent system upgrades to prevent future fires, and settlements from lawsuits to pay for damages caused by wildfires. Executive salary pales in comparison to these financial obligations.

Here we go again at SCE
With layoffs . Government should step in and see what is going on as there was a big layoffs just a few years ago. Maybe pull there funding. I bet the big wigs still get there big bonuses.

The company figured out that the half dozen employees that remained in the office were doing all the work and there really is no need for the WFH people.

At-Will employment su-ks during times like this. Utility careers should be stable, however this round of cuts erases that notion. Employees are being hurt, meanwhile execs will profit more than ever. Directors and above are not accountable for this misappropriation of people which led to these hurtful layoffs. I feel bad for those who followed their career path for it to lead to this dead end. Remember, directors and the rest of the executives are not your SCE family, you're just a name and a number that can be crossed off the list at their whim. For those who remain, don't let them forget about this disposal of people and money taken from their own employees. Be bold and remind them every chance you get they have eroded our trust and confidence in their leadership ability to provide a secure and safe job where the execs won’t erase employee’s money and dreams. Shame on the execs, and be sure to let everyone know this is yet another example why for-profit monopoly utilities should not exist and should not be at-will employers. Spread this word especially if you ever get to vote on IOU’s being transitioned into a non-profit utility. Steer people here to read this wall and fight for change.

Really cold hearted they don’t give an opportunity to find a job within the company, even if it pays less I would take whatever I could get so I can provide for my family and have insurance.

It happened last week for corporate affairs. Over 10% cuts. Managers were not given other opportunities. Notifications happened by noon, but that may vary for T&D. Best of luck and take care of yourself.
