People do know all these “corporate ratings” are paid for don’t they? I worked at Xilinx, always a top rated company to work for but once I got to know HR, they had several people on staff making sure they got that top rating. You should always ask yourself “hmmmm I wonder how much they paid to get that rating”

Based on direct experience I laugh at this rating. I can see no logical explanation for how this could happen unless Broadcom paid for this rating to get rated 5 stars, just like when Broadcom/Hock Tan paid 40k for dinners to attend dinner with Xi Jinping & Biden as well as top business reps to push the Broadcom acquisition of VMware through.

Hock Tan runs the company like a dictator, when he acquired Symantec he came and spoke at the location I work at and stated "You will be lucky to work for me". Which in a way was true as so many lost jobs, and that is always the case. The way Broadcom pads it costs is by offering RSU's that take 4 years to vest "golden handcuffs" we call them. Very rarely do they give raises and very minimal at that. In fact, in the last 2 years, they have stated no raises as they can't afford them- even while breaking earning records, and then they turn around and buy VMware for $69 billion! And almost right before any quarterly, there is always layoffs. You must always fear for your job here. Does that sound like a good place to work for?

Based on my direct experience, and the vibe of the people I work with day to day, this doesn't seem remotely credible. We receive conflicting direction and priorities, have nowhere enough personnel to drive the work, and every 2-3 weeks there's a new project... it's like "organizational ADD" here, and as a result we are not really getting anything done except to churn and churn.

Maybe it's just our team, but man - hard to see this as a great place to develop your career especially if you're under 40 years of age. RIght now I'm keeping my head down, attempting to stay as productive as possible, and not pushing back against the tidal wave of bullsh-t coming down from above.

Newsweek is working to make themselves the media brand that has fallen the most, giving up on all editors and ethics, and this laughable endorsement that probably had nothing to do with anyone at Broadcom or Newsweek participating in anything beyond an exchange of moeny, is another milestone in that journey.

I find it wholly unbelievable that more than 90% of broadcom employees think it's a great company to work for. Perhaps the real survey percentages were swapped when filling out the forms and paying for the use of the, now disreputable, Newsweek name?

To be fair, the pay is pretty great until you get laid off. Crazy how the thousands that are being cut in VCF don’t make the news.

The market research company, Plant-A, that compiles these lists doesn't actually speak with anyone working at the companies. They compile lists of companies in various sectors by aggregating data from unrelated market research studies, then contacting the PR dept of those companies offering them a package to use the Newsweek branding in the company's press releases and other promotional material. It's how the market research company stays in business. In other words, it's a meaningless ranking.
