I have heard you usually have to work a month after being layed off, is this true? And you then receive your severance payment after that finish date?

a lot of wrongly confident answers here, and people in the usa saying 'that's not right' every time something deviates from the usa process.
the reality - most comments/answers are for USA. it varies across the globe. ive seen everything from same day to six weeks.
In the U.S. you are done at the end of the same week, and there is no expectation of you continuing to work. Other countries have different laws. I know of one worker in Israel who had 6 weeks notice before layoff date. He was told he didn’t have to work but his support to hand over work was welcome.
Nope you get told Monday that Friday is your last day. Sales usually put up and OOO message and don't log back in after being told. They don't want you talking with customers once you are out. Honestly they want your awkward energy gone asap. It's horrible but you get the severance a week or two later? A month at most
It depends. In my area most just take the rest of the week off and never come back after being told. Sometimes till the end of the week to pass things off.
Not true, usually a week. In other geos it could be one month+.
One buddy of mine was WFR on Monday and last day was the Friday. The package took about a month to get to him.
LOL. No, not true at all.
