Thread regarding Nielsen layoffs

laid off recently ?

In Tech and many coworkers and peers in same department got replaced in the last week/2 weeks. Have a meeting with manager next week but no HR. Think this is it.

I possessed the most experience in Procurement and a flawless performance record. Nevertheless, they appointed a new CPO who not only sidelined me but also managed to replace me with his contact from a former company, taking over my role and responsibilities. Dismissal can be acceptable if conducted properly, but this was not the case. Since April, I have faced the most toxic work environment in my nearly seven years with the company.

Envision feeling overlooked, as though you're unimportant, with a manager who disregards your career goals, shows favoritism, and excludes you from meetings pertinent to your duties. Ultimately, it's not about performance; it's about favoritism. Thus, don't be misled into believing that hard work alone will secure your position.

I stumbled upon a post questioning how this company circumvents the WARN Act. I believe it's because individuals often settle for whatever insufficient severance they're given, without consulting legal advice to advocate for them. I recognize that companies must adapt to survive, just as we adjust our personal budgets for vital expenses. However, their method was outright unfair. This is why some employees grow apathetic towards the company, aware that they will eventually be let go. I didn't plan to stay until retirement, but while I was there, I consistently gave more than 100%, was conscientious, and saved the company a considerable sum of money, despite a modest salary. It's not the termination itself that disturbs me, but rather the way it was handled. As the adage goes, every dog has its day. Those who complied for the sake of harmony will, in time, be dismissed, and that's when I'll remain indifferent. The potential end of Nielsen as a company would not concern me. Now on to the next chapter in my life

Yeah, unfortunately HR tends to show up at the very last moment, and it often feels like a bit of an ambush… It’s a tough situation. That said, if you’ve got an unexpected meeting coming up, it’s very likely tied to that.

sports dept let their lead Devops person go this summer with no replacement. it’s wild what they’re doing.

hr will just suddenly show up on the invite

and again, this won’t stop until the company is firmly in the GCCs. only a few higher ups will be left in the US / Europe etc

Got summoned into that call yesterday where HR just popped up. Total time: 10 minutes to listen to the pre-written script. End of month for my service. Audience Measurement.
