One of the big problems with Teradata is that it has turned into a Product led company. Back when the company was sales-driven, Teradata was making money and even growing somewhat. The sales teams knew their customers, knew what capabilities and feature their customers wanted, and influenced Product and Engineering to incorporate those capabilities and features. The company is in the situation that it's in exactly because Product and Marketing have been driving capabilities and features without input from customers and the sales teams. And the result is our new Cloud product which can't even compete with Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks (or take your pick of competitor).
Only recently has Product starting seeming to care about what customers want, but the train has already left the station. Too little, too late.

A product led company shouldn’t require more investment in sales. The mentality that Teradata needs consulting and services to do anything is why our product hasn’t matured as fast as we should have. The pressure from sales to do unreasonable work is what’s ki-ling TDC.

SKO is the first victim of the culling. Travel restrictions in place all of next year and even winners circle won't happen either and that those who exceed their quota will get a trophy. Haha this place is going downhill fast

Well, at least the list of what's to be chopped contains SKO. That's a deliberate cost saving.

New logos were just a figment that SM dreamed up to keep the dogs at bay. They don't exist and the truth is coming back to bite him soon.

Cloud architects in Europe, especially in France and Italy, must be courageous. No one can escape their fate.

Put New logos on the back burner!?!?! What about those 150 prospects that Steve promised would be coming in this year to make up for the massive erosion of customers leaving?

Some actual producers could be kept if they got rid of Marketing. And nobody would notice.

Budget cuts the last few months for some teams also indicate a focus on retention/expansion and putting new logo acquisition on the back burner. So the post below checks out, from my view.

I’ve heard they’re looking at which parts of the business will be the most useful in the future… so, sadly bad news if you’re not in the Teradata Cares team :(

This is why Teradata is failing. They hire people that use language like, “Shhhh” and “Don’t tell anyone” to describe an impending layoff of 10% that was publicly announced. Thank you, Captain Obvious

Rumor has it at this point, Teradata will be donated to a nonprofit just like that old car in your neighbor’s driveway. Kars For Kids has already turned them down though.

Surely most of the CSM organisation will go. They are saying GTM will be impacted more than others. So I can forsee a rationalization of AE's, pre-sales and CSM's. Possibly some cloud architects as well
