Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Happy Month of Learning!

Happy month of learning everyone! If you’re an HQ employee, come on down to the plaza for some useless swag. Be sure to be kind to the shameful L&D employees who were forced to volunteer for this sham corporate has disguised as a testimony of P66’s investment in professional development and career advancement. They’ll be the unhappy people with the grey polos on.

Also, don’t forgot to check out our new L&D Month of Learning site where we showcase all the meaningless stuff we were asked to put together last minute to make it seem like we’ve been working hard for the last two years. Over the next four weeks, you’ll be enticed with a number of webinars, most of which were already pre-planned by other BUs and departments, where you’ll learn to navigate these WEP/BT changes with a growth mindset and positive attitude!

Insincerely,

An HR captive

I’m hearing that the Borger Refinery is unwinding all the senseless BT changes to L and D.

“Go out and learn” hahaha! I remember that from last year. What a joke. Learn what? Anyone try and get training from this group. They have good facilitators, just bad leaders who can’t make decisions. Agreeing with an earlier comment, the rest of us will just wait for this dumpster fire to burn out. In the meantime, can anyone tell us what they do?

Last year at the end they to everyone “now go out and learn”. I expect it will be something equally worthless this year.
As for swag, I have given away or thrown away a pickup load of swag. Why would I want anymore?
This includes all my service awards.

Epic failure. Go check out how much swag they’ve ordered. Anybody out there get any? Or even want any? Some of it just got in last week…money well spent L&D leaders. Speaking of the L&D leaders, ask anyone in that department how many sessions their own leaders attended. In fact the new head of L&D can’t even be bothered to be onsite, am told the guy is literally never there. Meanwhile the rest of us will keep waiting for training.

Well, the Month of Learning has been just as big a failure as we all thought it would be.

Let us assume for a moment that Month of Learning by some miracle manages to achieve some small measure of success. What is L and D going to do until next year? Will they immediately start working on the next Month of Learning? Will they implement some equally useless program?
And unless I don't have choice in the matter, I'm not going to listen to the CEO or any other member of the ELT run their mouths.

Go Go and others including the new HRVP are going to give speeches in regard to the Month of Learning.
Evidently the Month of Learning hasn’t been a big enough failure or a big enough joke so these “leaders” are going to contribute to it this year.
It should be entertaining to watch them flop and flail around!!

All true about the current state of L&D. The previous leader is still there, wreaking havoc acting like she wanted this, and essentially receiving a slap on the wrist for creating this dumpster fire of a department. Meanwhile the new leaders are NEVER there. And allegedly the new L&D guy has 6 months to relocate? Such a joke. But never fear the promoted/demoted losers are still running the show, unsupervised, so let the bullying and ethics complaints continue. Month of learning is a veiled attempt to pretend that L&D has actually done something, all the while they’re still “ideating” on the same programs for two years now, while contractors are out delivering lukewarm programs. Don’t be fooled, nothing has changed. So much talent being ignored, undermined and underutilized and those still here are all looking to leave.

This event feels like a half-hearted imitation of I&D week. Both kickoff events took place in Sweeny, which is disappointing—it’s a missed opportunity for some originality. No disrespect to Sweeny- just simply stating they could’ve tried to spread the love a little.

And to make matters worse, if that's even possible, the previous leader L&D leader who put the organization in this position was only demoted and moved into another role. One of the directors under her was fired, one director was also demoted, only one remained in the same position. The worst supervisor in the organization was promoted to a director. This move was made after he had only been with the company six months and had fired one person with no performance improvement plan in place and had multiple ethic complains for bullying, misogynist and racist behavior. He's a real winner.

Yeah, this month of learning is a waste of time, energy and money; but hey, let's put on our party hats and pretend the cr-p L&D leadership is forcing is to promote is not something you could find on YouTube. Whee!

L&D was much more focused, targeted, timely and effective when it belonged to the organization it supported. This has been the worst decision possible for employees that need training and those developing the training.

growth mindset =synonyms of endure are abide, bear, stand, suffer, and tolerate

L and D has been a disaster since they took training from the local sites and placed it in the corporate HR group.
To make matters worse, they placed totally inept buffoons in charge of this change. There has never been a real plan to perform training.
