Does anyone else have this situation? I’m a C12. According to HR, I report to a C14. But said C14 told me that I really report to one of her C13s. This happened right after all the Q1 layoffs. Just doesn’t sit quite right with me.

My last role with Citi, me and my teammate had a "lead" who was not our direct Mgr in the Directory. She reported to our Direct Mgr also just like we did but we had constant interaction with this lead and she had input into our performance reviews. Not sure if this is allowed or not. Ultimately the lead was saved and we were cut.
That facetime and interaction with your leadership is key if u want them to bat for you in times of need. It felt quite unfair to us what happened in the end.
Not saying I have special rights. Just saying it is underhanded and dishonest. It negates the restructure. So much secrecy for a company that touts transparency.
You forget who's side HR is on. Hint, it's not the employee. Hr was integral in the entire re-org. Simply put, the company can do whatever it wants. Just because it's not in an org, there is nothing legally to say that part of your duties isn't managing another person, even if not officially. Some of you act like you have rights and entitlements at Citi. You don't. With the exception of the right to leave.
Post ID: @1zlz+1uMt2S6l You must tell and report to HR and this manager that that's Not what the Global Directory shows. She's dumping and relinquishing responsibilities for direct reports by dumping you onto one of her other DRs because she does Not want to actually manager people, yet wants to get paid $$$ for it.
Correct. Fishy. I report to C14 in Global Directory and WorkDay but C14 tells me I really report to one of her C13s. This being done without HR knowledge. And I’m pretty sure she has done this with several others.
This happened a lot in the last re-org. Span of control says that a director needs a minimum number of direct reports. In order to do that they changed the org chart so that most people directly report to a director, but unofficially some c12s will still report to some 13s. You are required to facilitate all managerial aspects, YE reviews, PTO approvals, etc. You just don't officially get credit for it. All part of flattening the org for perception purposes and add some justification to some D's existence. Somehow this, along with all the other org changes that make NO sense makes Citi a better place.. Contrary in literally everyone's opinion. Who makes these id--tic decisions?
What does it say in the Global Directory?
That's your manager officially in all systems, the one who is responsible to do your reviews, approve CMP requests, vacation etc.
Now if they're saying it's someone else other than what it says in the Directory, then that needs to be updated or if they don't update it, that's fishy.
