Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Why certain banks are closing branches?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/yourmoney/bank-closures/article-13908061/amp/citibank-chase-banch-branch-closures.html

Please don't conclude Citi is in trouble, I believe Citi is too big to close or fail and it's not alone Citi..just trying to understand the dynamics behind it

All the more reason to leave the brick and mortar behind and allow your employees to work from home should their role allow it.

Exactly what the article says: brick and mortar locations are expensive to maintain and staff. The article notes how fewer people wish to spend time standing in line at a bank and opt to use online services. In short, the market and people’s attitudes towards in person banking are changing and the banks are adapting.

Also, hybrid schedules can be accommodated for persons working in a call center - online banking - whereas persons working at a physical location need to be full time in the office.
