BVT Mess

BVT is a mess....loading bad, buildings falling apart, roofs leaking and they make our fab manager in charge of all facilities, hopefully other sites don't get launched to the stone age with vacant dilapidated buildings like us.

Fab 9 will not be able to accomplish it's GaN goals. Even if it did, the technology is already old and in production nearly everywhere else. The only advantage Fab9 had was the 200mm wafer size, making it easier to handle the brittle wafers, but because their tools are so old, and the mid/new techs are poorly training with no focus on the theory behind the equipment the tools are having serious issues.
I'm not sure what will happen to the area when the company fails.

Sue them? The state let it happen.

would be fun to see the state sue them for lack of cleaning up the environment though.

Can't dump it because then they'd be on the hook for a Superfund site.

Fab9 is a mess, I have always hoped it would change, new managers etc but it's always the same. Smoke and mirrors. It never changes. Please someone save us ! I still have hope!!

Wouldn’t it be in the best interest of the company to outsource the few wafers they put out? Doesn’t financially makes sense to even own this place.

Most techs are useless. If I was a manager I would quit immediately. No thanks! Need to trim down head count.

only an id--t would consider taking this piece of shi.t site, there is reason big blue paid to offload, raze some buildings and invest in updating

They are looking for some bigger su-kers than they are to buy it. I’m not sure if they exist though. I foresee they state taking it and managing the toxic environment they left behind

BTV site is certainly run into the ground. It started with IBM not investing in it and then GF just keeps su-king money out of the site with little to no investment. GF is betting the site on GaN being successful and having enough demand, not sure that is a good bet to make. Then there are many vacant spaces within many buildings, they need to consolidate and bulldoze some of them into the ground. The site was built to house ~10K workers but not with ~2.5K or less and many of those working from home the office space could shrink essentially to 25% of what it is today. It will be interesting to see what comes of this site longer term.
