Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Another Round before End of Year?

With the massive layoffs happening at other places, slowing industry-wide demand, is another round coming soon?

This round of layoffs will have taken 3 months from the time it was announced until it is finished in mid November. Intel couldn't possibly get anything else done by the end of the year. They may announce more cuts after the Q3 earnings is released. Since Q3 earnings are usually announced in October but the actual earnings release date hasn't been published yet and Q3 ends tomorrow I would expect it to be pushed as well as being a bigger disaster than Q2 earnings.

It's unlikely that there will be a mass company-wide exit in the way that this one was (unless, of course, something major happens with the rumors about takeovers, but, even then, it likely wouldn't happen overnight). Instead, you'll likely see individuals or teams get plucked off quietly over the next year. But you can also say that with the majority of companies, especially tech!

I am privy to inside information and can confirm there will be another 15% reduction in worldwide headcount. Engineers and Technicians will be prioritized for retention. Timeline for announcement is post quarter four 2024 earnings report.
