Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Boeing needs you a lot more than you need them

Considering the situation you guys have about as much leverage as you can get. I think Boeing will cave before you do, their desperation is obvious. But even if it goes long and gets uncomfortable hope you guys keep fighting. It will be worth it in the long run

Wrong. Management cannot post positions of workers that are on strike. That would be illegal. I know boeing doesn't care about laws, but this one is hard to break without consequences. Also the average Boeing strike is around 50 days, though it can be a lot longer. But in this case it'll probably be shorter, I can't see boeing holding out for long

Wrong. What's stopping them from posting the positions in the near future...? They know damn well the strikers will be applying as the iam workers quickly discovered no one outside of boeing is willing to pay half what boeing was paying. If I'm not mistaken this will be the 1st missed check for IAM workers, panic will start to set in as an inflated economy will start to take its toll. My guess is, half will be tapping out in 3 weeks. Good luck.

This strike helps Boeing to avoid penalties to airlines for late deliveries. Mgmt is laughing. And this also gives them some breathing room to sort out how to crawl out of this hole they dug themselves in within the FAA; since they cannot increase production rate anyways
Have a nice weekend everyone
Ps. My guess is the negotiations will go into winter as they typically do in the past

AMEN to that !!! Boeing is victim to their 26 years of mcdonnell-douglas induced greed and finally paying the price !!! The Hammer is in your hands so stay firm !!! The next plane will definately be built in Seattle, it's a no-brainer as the skillset does not exist anywhere else and they can't afford to trsin and gamble again. See the 787 and the south carolina cluster F.

Well they might move for the next plane anyway even if you settle for 25-30%. But I don't think it's likely. And considering how cutthroat Boeing was in the past, getting the best deal now will put everyone in a better position for the next round of contract negotiations

Yah. Boeing will cave in, but next airplane will be built in a union-free state and IAM footprint will shrink in the Puget Sound area. But who cares!! Get 40% now.
