Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Citi has an opportunity to bolster employee morale and it’d cost them nothing.

They could sell it as “things are tough and this year raises and bonuses will be nil but we can do this, if your role allows it, you can work from home 100%”.

It would not cost them a single penny, they can save on bonuses and raises and still look like a hero. Those that work for jerks and are looking to jump ship may even re-evaluate whether to leave or not with this perk.

Moral would spike up, gas, vehicle wear and tear, dry cleaning, day care etc…expenses would be mitigated. Citi would look like a forward thinking, innovative, progressive, hero to the employees not to mention even drawing in top talent from elsewhere. You want to combat the ongoing poaching done by Wells Fargo and other firms, this is your answer and I mention this again, it would not cost you a single penny as the infrastructure is already there in place.

There’s way too much focus on controlling the employees often times through fear.
Better do x or you’ll be on the list to be let go. Gets old.
I’m interviewing elsewhere now, wish me luck.

Cost nothing? Nothing costs nothing. In particular, it costs a fortune to sit on underutilized commercial real estate. That's the actual real reason for return to office mandates... as has been pointed out on this site many times.

I like hybrid, myself. Wfh 100% would be so boring.
They can boost moral by giving everyone decent raises.

Citi has no interest in boosting morale. If they do 100% from home it will look like their back to the office plan failed. Citi wants a low morale atmosphere to use as a tool to manipulate and control employees. Citi does not care about its employees, get that through your head. All the so called efforts to improve things are nothing more than propaganda geared towards pushing employees to their breaking point to either quit or make it easier to control them. Don’t believe what they tell you, all you have to do is look around and see all the miserable people with no other option but to stay for a paycheck.
