I was hired on the last round that had bonuses. Some of us got the first part. There was about 25 of us who got 15000, furloughed before the first year completed. Didn’t get the remaining 10,000 owed.
North platte electrician, 25,000 bonus offered.
There were a few guys who relocated there, started and got furloughed before their probation was over. Zero sign on bonus.
AVOID THE UP. I wish I could tell anyone applying there this.

20+ years employee and have known several people who were hired on because of the bonus and were furloughed well short of the required fulfillment period. Didn’t receive any bonus money after furlough and company was asking for them to repay back what they were paid. Then this dump had the nerve to ask the to come back to work. What a sc--wed up company. DO NOT WORK HERE THEY ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! You will not get a bonus!!!

We had a group who got hired and the railroad closed the shop before they had enough time in to get the whole bonus. Not only did they lose their jobs but the railroad wanted reimbursed for the money they’d already paid out in the deal even though it wasn’t the employees fault that they didn’t fulfill the contract time! I lost all respect for the company during that time.

The new hire bonuses not being paid out did indeed happen. It may be different at times or different from craft to craft. A coworkers son quit a job w/ john deere in michigan when he got hired on in north platte (mechanical dept). He was a couple months away from fulfilling the time requirement to receive his bonus when he was furloughed. Poor kid ended up moving back to michigan and getting his job back w/ john deere. The whole thing was a waste of his time, money, and efforts.

New hires got the bonus where im at.
I think they received it in 3 or 4 payments throughout a year.

Getting laid off before receiving the bonus sounds like a lie because the first payment is received before you finish training.

The people I know who hired on with a bonus were all laid off before the railroad paid. Some of them moved from far away for a job. I felt bad for them but if you don’t do your homework on a company before you hire out it’s partially your fault.

Serious question here. Is there anyone who is an agreement employee that hired on at your location with these large hiring bonuses actually collected the full amount? I remember one of the stipulations was that you had to be employed a certain amount of time to fully collect the advertised amount. Most of them were furloughed before that time frame ended. Just curious if anyone on here knows someone that hired on with this bonus and fully collected it?
