I’m sure it’s entirely a coincidence that exec leaders are ALL of PTO right now… with essentially the same away message. I’m sure they totally aren’t in a secret meeting deciding our futures. Because this didn’t happen right before the last huge round of layoffs… and my manager who is covering for his manager is 100% referring to it as a “vacation” repeatedly so as not to cause any alarm. What a disappointing decline overall. At least with the last round we were given a little bit of a heads up that there is a possibility for layoffs coming, feels like we’re all about to get blindsided- lining up just in time for October 1 that everyone else is posting/suspecting will be “the day we find out”. I volunteer as tribute for a severance package to get off this dumpster fire of a train ride. -_-

Well it absolutely happened, notifications were made yesterday. But wow did they let the wrong ones go! Talk about throwing away their top talent. Severe impact to my team and it was a complete blindside.
You actually think there is a secret meeting going on right now to decide who will be laid off next week? If it happens, the decision was made long ago.
I also don’t know who you are referring to when you say executives. None of the VPs or above in my area are on vacation.
Its weird if execs are on vacation so much, who would even announce/notify the impacted folks? Seems very odd to have layoffs then.
Aetna layoffs October 2020 was a complete surprise. Technically most were notified in September 2020 and had to work a month in order to get severance. The entire month my hiring manager rode my a-s to knowledge gain my experience, all the while I was being locked out from all my RBACs access . My email was being monitored too. I felt completely unmotivated to help anyone muchless the boss who chose to lay me off. And yes it was her choice as I and one other colleague who were not in her but kissing group were notified. She went as far as threatening my serance if I did not create, send, and store credentialing letters that never got sent to providers during the two year FL implementation that her favorite employee dropped the ball on. I su-ked it down and created code to mass send all the letters in just four hours. She practically choked when she saw I did something her favorite didn't do in two years, in a total of 4 hours. Needless to say I kept my serance.
This last 2023 layoff was completely political for my former Director. She rubbed everyone the wrong way and another noob Director was threatened by her position and covetted her team. It wasn't a shocker for the 2023 that there was layoffs coming as we knew in advance for two months, it was just a shocker who was laid off as many thought that their job was necessary.
Our futures are already decided. They're taking vacations to de-stress before doing the dirty work or use up banked hours before being laid off themselves.
I'm glad they're not doing it the same way as last year. That was cruel.
