I've been quiet quitting for the last few days but what else can I do in this area? How would I know somebody is quiet quitting and how do I hide it from my manager?

Quiet quitting does not mean you are not doing your job but just doing what you are required to do during normal working hours and not a jot more.
The execs all do the bare minimum and go around patting each other on the back during golf days.
So why not I say?
@wpg+1uGLlFwV I am the OP. Yeah, I don't think of that as quiet quitting, but if that is what everyone is talking about, then that is cool. I don't think that life should revolve around some sort of desperate drive to climb the ladder at all cost. Do the job, hopefully it is at least satisfying enough to not feel like you are wasting your life, and take pleasure in your actual life - family, friends, hobbies and other things that matter to you.
Why is HR asking how to spot quiet quitters?
@wjp+1uGLlFwV, 100% spot on. When you reach a point in your "career" that you decide to do the work you're paid for, but no longer care to participate in the @$$ kissing ... and cringe when you see it ... and also realize that the almighty (insert deity executive name here) puts on his pants the same way you do ... that's when you decide to do your job. Nothing more, nothing less.
No payday is coming.
Hence the puah for 5 days back on site
They want people to leave.
Forced attrition.
@wjp+1uGLlFwV quiet quitting does not necessarily mean one is unsupportive of their team or their manager for a "free payday." Perhaps they stopped seeking growth and visibility assignments. Maybe they coffee-badge some in-office days, and some days not. Perhaps they occasionally quiet vacay a long weekend with the family. They do their work, not the minimum. They support their team and manager. If this leads to their eventual exit, asserting they shall accept it.
Quiet quitting might not be a good idea. The moment they figured out your productivity is equal one of the offshoring countries, the job will likely to go that way. Welcome to the world of 21st borderless internet century.
”How do I know somebody is quiet quitting?”
Heidi Ho there, fellow employee worker humans!
Most of the mid level folks had quiet quit a decade ago and still at dell. Fake forecasts, fake meetings, lying on every manager update. Managers lie up the food chain. Quiet quiting has been the standard for many for quite some time.
Shhhhhh....
So is loud quitting when you go to the boss and say I QUIT!!! ??
During COVID, our team had an employee quiet quit. It lasted about 4 months before HR officially terminated their position. So just hang in there and see how long you can drag it out!
Oh, look, everyone, it's the dell Karen.
Quiet quitting just makes it worse for others. That's great that you don't want to be here...just leave. By you not putting in any value and collecting a free paycheck, other things suffer, others people's lives are impacted. Stop being selfish and just leave, stop trying to get a free payday.
I have a ton of empathy for everyone dealing with income insecurity or loss of income. I’m older, I’m not sure exactly what “quiet quitting” is, but it sounds like you stop trying, makes no sense to me. It’s your career. If any of us hates our current job, gotta work to find a new job or to improve your skills so you have better opportunities.
Few days... bwahHaha
first rule is you dont talk about it
second rule is you dont talk about it
I don't think quiet quitting is for you.
