Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How ISP will be done

Will it be similar to what they show in movies where people coming out of the office floors with cardboard boxes , like it happened irl when LB collapsed in '08

I won't need a cardboard box as a remote worker. I have also emptied my old cubicle weeks ago. I will just need to drop off my laptop and a few old hardware before taking off for good. All set!

I am sick of all this whining and moping. Get back to work. My list has been made and approved. It su-ks but at same time tough sh-t. Welcome to adult world. If you are impacted just stfu and get out. Everyone else stfu and get back to work or you will be next. It feels like we are working with 10 year old cry babies. Grow up. Be a professional

Ever since 2016 I never kept ANYTHING in my cubicle I wasn’t willing to walk away from.

30,000 excess workers hired since the pandemic... it really didn't have to go down like this...

anybody who knows PC forecasting saw that demand was pulled forward.. but the new CEO ramped hiring and started the IFS field of dreams...

In NM once during a layoff, Intel seeded areas like cafateria, bullpens etc, with plain clothes cops wearing Intel badges just before the layoffs were announced.

I am not sure why there's so much speculation around this. Notifications mid Oct, last day worked mid November. We've been laying off people for years now. Wouldn't it look the same?

In 2016 I badged in at RA4 and realized that they'd set up a gigantic array of cubicles around the corner in the cafeteria. Anyone whose badge blinked red was walked by security to one of those cubicles and then walked out. I don't think anyone did any work that shift; we all just sat there at our workstations looking to see which coworkers made it through.

I dunno how it's going to work in this era of WFH - I assume we'll get a Teams "invite" and there will be the smiling face of HR to inform us that our services are no longer required.

You always get to decide who you are and who you will be.

This exercise is just a task . You need not make it into a display. The task has no feelings to be hurt.

I know it’s hard…

Save your energy for yourself, your family, your friends and your freedom to choose your path forward…..

Watch for them to be setting up temporary office spaces in large areas like all-hands conference rooms or separating off part of the cafe. It will be near an exit. If it is impacting a large portion of a department they may send out 2 meeting requests to people in the dept. Room A is safe room B is gone. You won't know which is which until you get there. They have dragged out process of firings so far but once they get to the point of executing (no pun intended) the plan it will happen fast.

I was out of the office on the Monday that started the 2016 layoffs when they walked out 4-5k. When I came into the office on Tuesday the offices of the people let go had been completely cleaned out the night before. There was no sign that the office had been in use. Monitors and all computer components gone, drawers and overheads cleaned out, even the white boards had been cleaned, and the chairs were neatly pushed in.

They will call you to a meeting and ask you to bring everything with you. They will collect you laptop badge etc and give you the axe and then have security walk you out. They mass do it in groups all at once. Please remember at this stage I know you will be hurting but remember at this point they are not your friends they are no longer you employers. You owe them nothing and they just fd you. Don’t be polite and courteous. You gain nothing from that. They aren’t bringing you back. F them and let them hear it
