Yeah, I kinda call BS on this one. most VMware folks are remote and many execs— think VP— are remote
I am remote and collecting Hockcoins. Not sure for how long. People who manage others onsite are more remote. Many senior executives are not even remotely close to any of the main offices. Remote collaborations only work for management but not anyone else.
I am in Texas, and have heard nothing about this, not even a rumor.
I am still Remote and have not heard anything about relocation. There are others in different organizations I know who are also working remotely. So far, I am feeling pretty good and something I can do for long run. Is this happening or going to happen? Is it only in Texas? Only impacting a small number of people? I am far outside of 50 miles.
this post seems to be missing the obligatory "this is the way"
I’ve been asked to move to another country or get fired as there are no offices in my country.
Union?
It’s not personal, it’s just business.
No one, I mean NO ONE, is essential.
Reducing headcount is essential.
Just a way to get rid of more people (sorry I mean cells in a spreadsheet) in a round about way.
I recently was speaking with an ex-VMW BC employee based in Canada, who informed me he's essentially been told by his manager that the "we all work from an office" mandate for the VCF division will soon apply to him too. This essentially means he's going to lose his job, since he is thousands of miles away from BC's only Canadian office.
What a sh---y situation. For those of you facing a similar fate, I'm very sorry for you.
Hock will not rest until everyone is laid off.
There are several VMW buildings in Austin Texas, and they've been mostly empty for a long time. Maybe the cost of breaking the lease obligation is driving this TX relocation.
What is the end goal? How much smaller does the headcount shink to achieve HT's profitability objective? The AVGO balance sheet ROI is a shifting financial performance metric. So, it seems like the headcount cuts are continually re-assessed by HT each quarter.
I live in the office because I’m an overachiever and it saves me 4hrs of commuting.
Hock can do better , 1k or bust!
Remember 7k employees count
So you are the same numb nuts that’s keep counting yourself in the number is 6999 not 7k. Before hitting thumbs down on this comment see the signature of the post the response is.
This is Sparta!
Kim Jon Newsom just came back from China. Hock got the deal done. Hock is not leaving Cali.
This isn't fake news, people are being relocated in Texas, from Dallas to Austin. If you don't want to believe it is your problem.
It's happening!
We have layoff and/or mandatory RTO posting from time to time, which turned out to be fake news.
There's no such communication. It's another troll post that spreads FUD
HQ is moving to Austin in the next year. PA campus is on sale. Get used to moving for a job.
It's time to wise up and find a new job
You can be assured that notification will come via nasty docusign email.
Your managers are useless, this is Hock policy, no exceptions.
The eye of Sauron is almost upon you.
"This is happening in Texas..."... would you please be more specific?
Are BC managers in Texas explicitly/officially informing their remote employees who live >50 miles from an office, that they must either relocate or resign?
Relocating for a job where you could move and then be laid off anyway the next day is a brave choice.
People should start suing.
