Two years ago this month, I moved on—well, more accurately, I was forced to move on due to a layoff. I worked as a Java software developer on a great team. We achieved a LOT despite the lack of
direction and adequate tooling because of costs as most of the money seemed to be spent of swag or DEI education. In my opinion, upper management lacked a solid plan. Their choice of technologies didn’t
meet GF's requirements, as future costs of using those technologies became two expensive - all of which was known when the decision was made to go with the technologies.
During COVID, the push to mandate vaccinations didn’t feel like leadership to me; it felt like giving in. Time has proven that sentiment right. Maybe another dose of HR's DEI initiatives will help with morale.
To the many GF employees still there and giving it their best, I genuinely wish you all the best.
