Contrary to what the mass mainstream media wants you to believe, the economy is in a downward spiral. Out of control inflation and the US is now 35 trillion in debt. Most people know this. They just look at their grocery bills.
For most of people their discretionary income has been squeezed and the last thing anybody wants is a new phone.
Which December ? If you are asking about this December, yes there will be more layoffs. If you are asking about next December, yes there will be a lot more layoffs.
