So that was the jewel of the crown? What’s happening there and heard our development mgr left?

Most of the project secondees are based at Ras Laffan which is about a hour north of Doha. MKLIne has no life and wants everyone to be there all of the time. If you don’t; you’re out. If you have a family; you’re out. Poor EM behaviors but we only say we care about behaviors when our WAEM is low

What do you guys mean by working 60 hours a week in Qatar? Is that a known issue? I also don’t see how you’d need to commute 2 hours to work - isn’t the exxonmobil office in downtown Doha?

Maybe I’m missing something and you’re talking about a particular field position?

I too will 100% work every day to deliver if it is my choice to do so and I feel it is needed. I refuse to be told to work when it isn’t needed to inflate someone’s ego. If they need more seconded hours over extended periods maybe they should quit with the whole min staffing thing. What a joke. Failure of leadership!

60 hour week contract staff also have several weeks leave back to home country like a an extended rotation..

Seems like involuntarily forcing employees to work 60 hours while compensating for 40 hours should be a punishable violation of EM policies.

I understand that Mike wants EM employees to work the same schedule as Contract Staff, but Contract Staff get paid for 60 hours per week. If Mike forced Contract Staff to work 60 hours and paid them for only 40 hours then he would get in big trouble. Contract Staff are protected more than employees in this situation.

EM just assign a “Divestment Manager” to Qatar with the title “Transition Manager”.

Seems like EM is planning to leave Qatar when all the other Majors are trying to get into Qatar.

I bet that transition manager will not be forced to work 6 x 10 hour days plus 2 hours bus riding daily like project assigned EM secondees. Hard to believe EM can force employees to work 60 per week onsite and pay them for 40 hours.

The Total guy is not impressing anyone so far.

EM proposed a HiPo id--t with no applicable experience for that CEO direct report but Total proposed a 30 year experience true field guy that knew the work, thus Total guy chosen.

Everybody but EM sees right thru the ignorance of a HiPo.

It’s amazing that we turned down a sweet direct report to the CEO role on projects because we think we know better but now we will spend millions and millions more because of our pride. Heard the projects are going to $hit anyway.

We have had some top people working Qatar over the years. We have pulled our best people out of there over the last few years; people who cared for the Qatar success, good at relationships and getting value out of the relationships.

QatarEnergy LNG nor QatarEnergy will accept BTC engineers quality. They have their own Indian staff that they recruit themselves who are higher quality than our BTC folks. they come to EM, She’ll, Total for high end technical work that they can’t do themselves so using BTC won’t get us ahead of the competition. Seems like we have lots

@1qio+1uF91xKy BTC expats already showing up in Qatar. Seems to be the new model.

Got to love EM Snr Leadership when it comes to Qatar and the narrative that they always make up; we are partner of choice but when we don’t get what we want; it’s because ‘we choose’ what we want. What BS.

The only deal that they actually wanted us to be in and EM Upstream wanted us to be in; EM Product Solutions said no

The LCM 8s known to be DWW hatchet man. he was a bag carrier in Dallas and will die everything DWW wants. DWW does not like how much power QatarEnergy has over our earnings but his actions will mean our earnings come to an end vs getting Contract Extensions. Our actions are sending a very negative message that we do not care about Qatar but we keep paying lip service.

Think twice before accepting a role and be sure to vet who you are working for isn’t one of the managers with no life outside of work who seems bent on ensuring everyone on his team is as miserable as he is, gets divorced and estranged from their kids by working 24x7 like he has.

Missed opportunities in Qatar. Total recently staffed a role reporting directly to the QatarEnergyLNG CEO that should have been filled by an ExxonMobil Seconde but DW wasn’t willing to support proposing a viable candidate. Multiple people have left recently on short notice. Clearly there is an exxodus of talent from Qatar and no one expects us to be invited to participate in the one remaining greenfield expansion. We missed out recently on an expansion as we preferred to invest in Permian and Guyana. QatarEnergyLNG is wanting more seconded but DW refuses to send more as he feels we provide more than other IOC s but aren’t being rewarded for doing so.

Definitely not NI / NSI. Good guy and he did what’s right for his family. Good on him; the Company tried to strong arm to do what’s right for the company but not for the family. The Company can’t keep pushing good people over the edge.
