Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Is VSP Available

Does anyone know if Dell is offering a voluntary separation pacakage? I think I'm just done here. I wouldn't mind taking a week or 2 off and figure out what to do next.

Speaking of reading comprehension, where were they speaking about a holiday?

If you’re so unhappy and want to have the two weeks to plan your Euopean vacation, retire permanently or think you can get a new job…leave! Go! I don’t care… there were really talented people who could still be employed today, but they were in the wrong order at the wrong time and you sit on here and complain about how you just hope you can get a package.

Talk to your manager and good luck with your two weeks to figure it all out

Make sure you take your vacation days prior to requesting a WFR or quitting. You lose all of those once notice has been given.

"Yes, because that’s all it takes to get a new job in this market."

That's not what was said.
2 weeks to figure out what to do next could be what part of Europe they plan on going to.

Dell employees have very poor comprehension levels.

I spoke with my manager also. I had been due a promotion and my manager was changed completely out of the blue and so I just told them I wanted out. It wasn’t quick and I knew it would impact any chances of promotion but I’d gone beyond caring.

Yes, because that’s all it takes to get a new job in this market.

I talked to mine and he put me on the list. He tried to talk me out of it, but he's a good guy and one of the best managers I've worked for. I'd say it depends on your relationship with your manager.

Agreed with others here about NOT talking to manager. If you went to HR that is what they would suggest you do: talk to your manager.

Do the exact opposite of what HR recommends in this case. Quiet quit.
There are already rolling layoffs thru next year already. Hope you get a ticket out.

I talked to a manager and he said you can ask for one and if there is another WFR in the future, they'll try and accomodate. Of course, you now put a bullseye on your back for raises, promotions etc but then again, you want to leave.

won't be a VSP and don't divulge any interest in volunteering to your manager or colleagues unless your intention is to raise the probability you'll be on a future list

"But I talked to my manager and was able to get a package."

All this is propaganda by Dell HR and middle management. Don't believe this nonsense.

There is no upside in talking to your manager. Keep a tight lip.
Quiet quit and let it work itself out.
Hit them back where it hurts. Don't think you are falling on the sword and saving another employee.

No VSP. But I talked to my manager and was able to get a package.

She said that Dell does not officially ask for Volunteers. But she said that knowing I was receptive gave her flexibility to keep another employee.

So even though some others say don't ask your boss. I say go and ask, the worst they can do is say no. But think about how you phrase your request. Don't phrase it as I'm fed up with Dell. Try to put a positive spin on the request.

WFR casualties were decided long time ago by senior leaders or VP and above. Execution is phased Aug to Dec. No VSP planned apart from recent episodes at limited countries, but ask your direct boss, they are certainly looking to fire someone and some changes could happen.

No. Last time that happened too many ran for the doors.
Today it would be a stampede.

Don't think of talking to your manager either. Just quiet quit and hope for the ticket out. With how fast things are sinking it may be sooner than later.
