Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

What are the best depts in tech to transfer to at Citi? Is internal mobility worth it right now?

I work in tech and my area/department is highly dysfunctional with awful toxic managers. Is there internal mobility any use or would it put me at the lower end of the totem poll for layoffs? Thanks!

Post ID: @3qhb+1uCbmVWO True. Why accept the Citi bread crumbs salary increase 10% for a one level up internal job transfer or Zero % for a lateral move when we can get at least if not more than a 20% salary increase from a New External Job??? And Citi does Not permit skipping a level, for example going from VP to Director, and skipping SVP.
Also, I saw some posts here about expecting Citi to give you a counter offer when you hand in your resignation. That was a Lie or troll post. Citi has a policy of Not giving Counter offers. And so, when you decide to Quit Citi you better be prepared to actually leave the Citi H3LL H0le Train Wreck. Put your money where your mouth is cause Citi will call your bluff.

Post ID: @3uyi+1uCbmVWO The 10% or % salary increase that are disincentives to stay in Citi and move internally are some of the many FVCKED UP Citi policies that need to change that has been complained and written about ad infinitum on the VOEs and on the layoff com.
This Fvcked Up policy has been in place for years. But we all know Citi will Not change this policy and so the vicious cycle continues of Citi's inability to retain and attract quality employees who can actually fix Fvcked Up Citi. And yet Citi will keep asking the same stupid questions on the VOE every year about why employees want to Quit. There are 6 year olds in first grade who can correct their behaviour and process information better than Citi, the Potemkin Village of !diots !

It is true. It is something that has only begun to get rolled out in the past two weeks. There won't be official comms about it. I have been unable to offer more because of these new guidelines.

Post ID: @lge+1uCbmVWO Yes agree. The only way up is OUT of Citi. Employees can get at least a 20% increase in base salary by getting an External Job, plus a higher year end bonus which is often based on a percentage of your base salary. NOT worth staying in Citi for crumbs because Citi is destitute and dysfunctional. Citi can Not afford to pay well, retain and attract quality employees.

can someone please confirm that the 10% internal mobility increase is true? (Not that I was expecting that much more than that, but still.)

Go report under the guy who looks like Gonzo, his meetings are full of meaningful interaction - such as talking about his ranch, randomly putting various audience members on the spot, and soliciting input on what he should wear for Halloween. An absolute gem and academic no less…..

@rmx+1uCbmVWO Belfast is a perfect example! How some of these seniors got their position is beyond me. Toxic to the core.

Well, with new policy for internal mobility being no more than 10% payrise and zero for lateral... not worth moving.

Transfer to, you say??? Why not do yourself a favor and transfer out, all the way out to some other company?

It’s actually difficult to transfer internally, especially when it comes to more senior roles, as a lot of managers are awarding roles to their friends. This just happened in ERM where a member of Citi’s preferred demographic was just handed a job by his former boss.

You can't move within Citi as easily as you used to. RTO to combat the verge of commercial real estate collapse means jobs are only posted in areas that either have a seat, need more warm bodies or are cheap enough to support and employee. This means postings are only in specific sites. If you want to move it's not just finding the right role, but that role has to be in your location. The odds are not in your favor. It's very frustrating to hiring managers because although I might be in IL, I have to post a role in TX. defies logic. Nevermind there is no "good" place in Citi right now. It's all a toxic mess.

Every where Same complaint about immature mentality of managers and behaving hard they mean great leadership I never seen a manager motivate a resource here. Citi you fully failed to teach your management how to behave and interact.

@rmx+1uCbmVWO Is there another area outside of tech that's not so bad? I am frustrated daily by the stupid behaviors and lack of integrity.

As far as I know, it is not worth. Tech leaders I have worked with have failed to impress me on their character and integrity. They have promoted toxic culture and it is miserable.
