This sure has to change some of the plans re: layoffs and restructuring? I’m not trying to give myself false hope here or anything - I would actually love to leave Intel and I’m working on it, but I’m wondering how it will all play out with respect to employees. Personally, I wouldn’t mind staying with Intel until I’m ready to leave.

In theory you are right. But the reality is no one wants to or is willing to hire us. It is like we have a scarlet red letter on our backs and everyone is avoiding us. Just take a look around at your personal peers. The vast majority of them have not left, and that is not due to a significant effort to try. a very small fraction of people have been able to find new roles, but those roles are typically a downgrade from the position they held here. No one wants to hire us. And why would they sure you can have the skills and be hungry for work, but we’re from Intel. Why would they want to bring on the same people who sank an American institution? Why would they risk infecting their own projects and product with the same cancer? I know that su-ks and it’s hard to hear but that’s how they are looking at it. I’ve been told by close colleagues in other institutions and companies that they wouldn’t touch us with a 10 foot pole.
I think Intel employees will be in demand if they actually have skills. Here is a new employee to a company who has been under paid and abused for years and still came into work and gave it their all. A managers wet dream.

Depends on which side of spinoff you are on. AMD and IBM are soaring at all time highs. Their spinned off fabs are in the dumps. Fab side always loses in these deals. Goal is to not be on fab side of the split.
Still way to many employees, regardless of a spinoff.
Just look at companies that went through spin offs: AMD, IBM, GE, HP et al. Process certainly not pretty for employees.
