Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Get Rid of Fake Metrics and Measure Results.

Admissions and Student Success within degree are the heartbeat and lifeline of this organization.

So many ICs are coasting bye as they are meeting the minimum kpi/metric. If the company wanted profitability they would drive results, results are not given in this industry on KPI/metric/OKR. Every IC operates differently.

Example 1: IC hits no goals but can manipulate their metrics showing they tried? 2U management is conditioned to reward hitting KPI but missing quota

Example 2: IC over performs on goals and realizes they generate revenue but never hits KPI. This IC is supposed to be on a performance plan (by 2U standard). Although they are driving money for company but not following fake a-s metrics they are penalized

Who do you want in your business; the IC who drives revenue and bottom line performance OR the IC who fakes working just to say they tried their best?

Then how do people start? Why aren’t the people mentioning it starting the process?

Lots of reasons why people don't unionize. Fear is #1. Belief that you will never need a union is another big one. But when scammers get promoted and people with conscience get the heave ho...

So people can unionize? Why aren’t we?

It's a no-win situation for people who have a conscience. Only way to survive (or d** trying) is to band together (form a union).

If KPIs are gameable, then the KPIs are bad. KPIs are set by managers and ultimately by executive leadership. Paul is looking to ICs to fix the system he designed and leads. This ship cannot be righted unless it starts with the captain.

Fire scammers? The biggest "scam" is knowingly recruiting folks who can never repay their student loans. You should feel that in the gut. I do. Without fixing that, it's over.

Too simplistic of a solution, unfortunately. "Results" do not tell the full story. As someone else pointed out, top ACs (folks who are incredible on the phone, don't just clear DSM and call it a day, prioritize the right things, provide resources outside of their job description, do incredible jobs at follow up and support, run webinars etc.) still consistently miss goals because, at the end of the day, reg numbers are somewhat of a luck game. We cannot make people enroll in a program. Many of our programs are insanely over-priced and have unrealistic and untenable ROI in their career fields so it's a tough fight to get enrolls and registers. Whether this is unrealistic goaling is another story (looking at you demand gen).

It's a double-edged sword. I agree there are ICs who are bull-sh**ting their way to a paycheck and there are those who are well above average at their roles who don't hit the goals set out for them.

Why are you upset about acs who are doing exactly what is asked of them? Sometimes people have to clear the dash early to make room for lots of afternoon meetings with how their team is structured.

Hmm…sometimes great ACs miss their goals due to factors outside of their control (marketing spend changes, admit rate drops, unrealistic goals, partner behavior, etc…), so the “results” pendulum swings both ways.

Hooray. My Inound rate is 100% because I answer 1 call/ month and then set myself
To unavailable

Hooray I meet STC because I falsify my timezone

Hooray I’ll never get out on a boost bc I hit KPI and always miss my goal.

What do SE Directors (120-200k salary) do to drive bottom line?

Why are SE/SS/ADM managers paid 75k-165k ( but those above 6 figures don’t drive results)

This is the problem wit ADM DSM. Peeps clear the Dsm in 1hr, miss quota but are acknowledged for clearing dsm although they aren’t really doing anything.
