Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

A Lay-off is a Glorified Firing

There is no such thing as impacted in the corporate arena. The only thing impacted is the undigested food you ate yesterday.

Face it we got fired and Cisco is giving us money to go away quietly and to mitigate any risk or reduce the chances of a WRONGFUL TERMINATION lawsuit.

Most of us will take the money and move on and to you I salute you.

To the few who will fight back I stand in solidarity with you.

Recognize this for what it is and it will help you process the loss better.

There is life after Cisco. Find it and embrace it. For those still left behind. Look for a better job on your terms before your future is made for you.

I don’t think it’s a firing. That makes it sound like it’s the fault of the person laid off. Too many people are being laid off for that to be true.

I put in insane number of hours just to complete useless work that my leaders put me on which resulted in pretty much ‘nothing’ in the end. Never in my decades of career have I experienced where such clueless people were driving the so called strategy. It was truly laughable. I was planning on resigning on my own had I not been chosen. I am very happy I was. Congrats to all who are now free from this toxic culture. Life will get better for you - guaranteed. Be optimistic and don’t give up.

I got hit in February after 25 years. That one felt like they were cleaning out the older folks. But my stress is gone and I don't miss a thing! Life improved immediately . . .

Congratulations, you have all been selected to egress the Cisco PTSD bubble.
Your lives will slowly begin to improve. You will regain your strength, your stamina, your courage, your tenacity, and most importantly, your health.

You will become whole again.
Years from now, you will look back at this time as a life moment when you ended one chapter, and began another.

Good luck to all of you who have been LR'ed. It's not purgatory, there is a future.

By now reality has sat in. I’ve accepted it and I’m ok with it.

I’m now talking to your friends and planning to spend time with my family and close love ones that I had to put on the back burner for my job.

I’m getting organized and going to the gym something I neglected and now I see a new life ahead for me.

I know that there is life after LR.

True. As reality has sat in. I’ve accepted my fate. Life at Cisco was good until it wasn’t.

It’s nice to wake up and not hear a webex ping. I took a shower, made a cup of coffee and actually started to read a book something I haven’t done in years.

I was a new Cisco employee and don’t have a lot of money or work experience. I’m moving back home and enjoying what’s left of my independence in my own apartment.

I’m thankful my folks let me come back home to figure out my next steps.
