Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone remember Pat's inspirational speech about climbing Kilimanjaro?

I would like to take an opportunity to reflect on that ..

If I remember correctly (please correct me where I'm wrong) .. he said something to the effect of it will be tough in middle and that we should stick it through till then end.

His Kilimanjaro story didn't workout as planned, right?? or am I wrong .. when he said tough in the middle did he mean laying off 15% of the workforce every year?

It wasn’t Kilimanjaro… it actually was Everest and we are now in the death zone with dwindling oxygen supplies.

He also used to call Intel and its employees 'family'. He stopped doing that when he was finally called out. When your family goes through tough times you don't kick-out your family members and continue to pay yourself more and saying 'sorry, we can't afford you anymore'.

Remember the time on circuit he stated that he wanted to make all Intel employees wealthy....

The amount of time and money it takes to train for this is staggering! It seemed like such an odd flex. Way to keep up with your day job Pat!! You runt!!

The trouble with the mountain climbing is the term you’re forgetting for “tough in the middle” — THE SADDLE. The saddle is in mountain climbing the boring part where it seems like you’re not making any progress but in fact you’re making great progress. So if the mountain experience is valid, our Q3 should reflect this hidden progress. Sadly THE SADDLE is also from chaos theory where a slight perturbation is the difference between the happy exit and the sad exit. Only our perturbations haven’t been slight.
