I've heard he shops at baby gap and that he is too scared to come into HQ to show his face. He has even asked for Teradata to pay for a private bodyguard to cover him when he is in RB.

I suspect the guard is going to be used to drag this drunk out of local bars. He is already banned from several downtown because of his behaviour

He is 4'11. He wears mom jeans. He needs dental work. I even heard he picked a fight in a bar with a former TD executive.

It's shocking behaviour for a Nasdaq CEO. To be hiding away at home, never venturing into the office to speak to the troops, he commits the first sin of being a CEO which is transparency. There is zero transparency with him. Zero commitment to speak to the workers one on one because he fears someone will ask him the hard questions. So instead he runs scared.

Whilst the ship is sinking and hemorrhaging money, it was so nice to see three ELT members and rookie CEO show up for the Families @ TD hour-long call so everyone could share irrelevant family stories and cry tears about life outside work. Meanwhile, nobody is paying attention to the core business and product. Pretty soon, everyone will be shedding a tear either due to layoffs or a defunct company. The best way to support families is to grow the company full stop.

He gets away with more than that. If he needs to travel to RB he just schedules a mtg with a customer. That way he doesn't have to reach into his own pocket ever. It gets charged to a cost center.

And vistajet makes a nice earn out of ferrying him around the country at the company's expense. I've seen the invoices and it's eyewatering.

At his salary, it is way more fiscally prudent to just pay him a monthly per diem than have him take an hour filling out an expense report.

Because for some reason the executives can not just expense their travel like everyone else.

From the per diem comment, SM gets $15K/month ($180K/year) for travel to/from HQ. And, that is correct that he gets to pocket it if he doesn't use it.

Below is straight from his 2020 offer letter:

Travel Allowance: Because your principal place of employment will be Teradata’s office in San Diego, California when you are not otherwise traveling for business, subject to Committee approval, you will be eligible to commute to San Diego to perform your duties hereunder. You shall receive a gross monthly allowance of $15,000 to cover these commuting costs, such as the cost of airfare, lodging and a rental car or ride services (the “Allowance”). The Allowance shall be treated as taxable compensation to you but shall not be considered a part of your normal or expected compensation for purposes of calculating severance payments, bonuses, long-service awards or retirement benefits or similar payments. The Company shall have no other obligation to reimburse you for any costs related to your commuting expenses, nor will it assume any liability for lease agreements should you wish to lease an apartment. The Allowance may be revisited by the Committee on an annual basis.

This is why it is one in the lifetime oportunity. This is true nature of capitalism (work is not family it is a business contract).

If makes you feel any better he gets a travel perdiem each month and if he doesn't travel he gets to pocket the perdiem amount.
