Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It's a wonder Intel is still functioning at all

Think about it. Layoffs have gotten rid of a good number of best employees over the past few years. This has caused a continued brain drain as others have been voluntarily leaving at a steady pace. They have been replaced by cheaper workforce - here and abroad - that don't provide the same quality of work.

Knowing all this, is anybody else surprised Intel is still standing?

Really appreciated all the hacking and coughing during Covid , from those that didn’t know the meaning of the words “ sick time” Those of us that HAD to come in to keep things moving caught all their germs and ended up dragging it home to our families . Yet another reason to abandon ship.

@baf+1u8hERnV, great point about making money on the way down. The “short interest” is significantly higher this year. Wow, imagine the luck for anyone who sold on 7/31/2024 and 8/21/2024.

Controlled demolition of the Bain Capital variety? Sure feels like it. You can bet someone is making money on the way down.

Pat should know better because he is coming from engineering background. Intel let go all talents is going to be a big problem down the line. The skilled workers is the key to carry out his vision and dig the company out of this mess. What a mistake Pat made.

It's A mystery to me that how the hardware debug engineers can work from home since COVID19, and be very productive in have 3 new kids...

Intel has no idea of the experience/history they are losing. I worked in a team of engineers that handled all customer engineering problems. That team has been decimated with people taking the VSP. It will take 20 years for new college graduates to rise to the same level of my team members that have left.
There will be no Intel to allow for new engineers to gain the same level of experience.

That is the difference between Intel and TSMC. Intel doesn't value employees as asset.

It’s called “inertia” or “momentum”… a big mass moves through space because it had been moving at an accelerating pace (late 1990s, early 2000s), slowing down (mid 2010s) and now going to a complete halt (now)… prepare for sinking is next…

The fact that skills assessments and focal performance have not been suggested as tools/options in all this mess is astounding …they could have actually trimmed som fat that would have become “addition by subtraction” but instead the arbitrary brain drain of some real talent continues. Not sure they will be standing for much longer after Nov 15th.
