Are they (management) really in any position to actually deny anyone’s CPM application? I know it’s an “application”… but c’mon, the finances are hanging by a thread. I cannot imagine anyone being told: “yeah, we know you wanna leave, but you know what would be good for team morale? Knowing that you wanted to leave and keeping you here.”

@nzh+1u8Wy8kg Intel expat packages actually pail in comparison to the competitors (Per diem). But it is a valid argument, do you need 10+ manager expats for a site startup? ICs can be justified as well as effective/proven FCE project managers (Need someone who knows how to navigate the great bureaucracy of Intel that refuses to modernize or become efficient).
Intel's biggest problem is execution still, if they could actually have schedule integrity, hit milestones when they need it and build accurate forecast, they would get a lot more out of the workforce, both expat and local.
I do agree they could do without expats, likewise the seed program could be paired down to 1/3, our competitors do not send a person per tool/CEID. Its usually one transfer Eng per area only, and remote support to bring up at tech or node in another factory. Just like CE!, another inefficiency that needs to be scrutinized. Far past the time to modernize here.
Lay off talents is not the only way to cut costs. There are so many things the company can do to reduce costs, like get rid of Expat package for certain employees... It is totally unfair to those who got let go when some ppl can live comfortably on company's money.
@fgw+1u8Wy8kg are they going to compensate those critical, hard to replace individuals? If they turn down your VSP application it should be accompanied with a 150% pay increase.
It was communicated that all voluntary applications will be likely approved. Intel/BU is reserving The right to disapprove for very critical, hard to replace positions that can further risk business.
Weeks of having tough conversations with family and loved ones only to get denied by an Intel manager...messed up
They simply have no idea what they're doing. Losing all the talent in the company.
One thing is certain, we're on the right path to self destruction.
