Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Now Chevron is going to Bangalore India

Chevron just announced to setup a Chevron Technical Center in Bengalore now and will shift 600 jobs (initially?). Wow! Looks like the highly paid CEOs of O&G companies have 0 ability to lead the company anymore. All of them are just shelling our money to consultants like McKinsey and like of it and copying others move.

The CEO greed in American companies is ki-ling companies and it's soul (employees) faster than ever.

This seems to happen every 10 years or so. Big companies move important roles overseas to save a buck and then they realize they done fu---d up and move them back.

It will take India decades to get where the US is in terms of skillset. Plenty of capable people over there but not near enough.

short term cost savings, but long term damage to the company. naive execs that think technical skills are a commodity where they can get good results from the lowest bidder. they are managing via spreadsheet vs. having a vision and actually leading.

It’s not just American companies…. Just take a look in open resourcing. Seems like their version of TAO.

It’s the nature of capitalism, because it try’s to get the maximum profit, going to cheap labor market with the globalization is inevitable. Unless we have a different system, only the top few will benefit. As Shell staff, you already benefit for the high salary for a long time, the emerging countries like India get the job but with much lower pay.
