Thread regarding Five9 Inc. layoffs

The real fat should be cut

Five9 is top heavy and should have cut it's over paid and under performing EVP staff instead.

Exactly this. I understand layoffs are sometimes necessary, but when you cut good people who are contributing to the company and leave those who are highly paid but do mostly unimportant work and wouldn't even be missed, then you're doing it wrong.

There are lots of committed, hardworking employees who day to day represent Five9 tremendously. Unfortunately IMO the leadership has poor vision and has been years late in driving the company forward, which should have included fixing product limitations, especially non voice channels, and address stability. Despite being named Five9, this is not what customers experienced. It’s a failure at the Sr Leadership levels.

keep in mind, with layoffs like this, due to so many protected classes of people, you have to either make it random, or you have to use some kind of bell curve where you cut everyone to the left and right of the bell curve in order to show impartiality, or you have to announce the positions are being eliminated, and then have to wait x amount of time before rehiring for those positions.

Definitely got a lot wrong about this one - Obviously NO attention was paid to who was selected. Looking around at who is still here is all I need to know.

Agree. How many VPs have been hired in the past 12 months?
