Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel seems to be cultivating a fear-filled culture

I swear, it's their goal to instill fear in all of us with the constant threat of layoffs that never truly stops. Do you remember a time when you didn't fear for your job? I honestly don't. They want us to be afraid so they can control us more easily. If you're worried about losing your job, you won't see a lack of bonus or a too-low raise or a disappearance of another benefit as such a big deal.

Spent more time thinking about certain entities pumping down the aquifer and making the land my house was sitting on useless , rather than worrying about a company’s missteps .
Finding another job was the easy part.

Yes. Your Executive team should feel defensive about horrific results. The defacto response is to instill fear upon the masses so as to stay in front of any form of rebellion. The problems are now about you and not the Board and Executive team. Many parallels to failed political policy and an entire nation living in fear for leaders not being accountable, and passing the buck.

This is how Cisco, Dell, IBM, etc operate. Constant hunger games fear of being culled.

I think this is a “bold strategy Cotton let’s see if it works out for them” move in terms of you employ techies for their minds, and fear is the mind ki-ler

Do you see the constant scheme with one hand getting $10B money from governments and one hand with 10B cost reduction/layoff? Hey, if you don’t give me $10B dollars I will layoff xyz number of employees to cut cost. I don’t care about the fu-kking products. If it doesn’t work call customer services and deal with it.

Fear culture is better than the romper room path they were on with all that psychological safety cr-p.

The company puts more effort into pride month than it does product launches.

It’s always been a fear-based environment. Worked as a contractor for 24 years there. The toxic self-preservation environment continues.

You're partially right. Yes, they want to control us through fear. But currently they also want to demoralize us and remove any perceived "perks" to get us to leave in order to save costs.

Remember 2015 when it was record profits and 90% market share and then layoffs come out of nowhere? If that’s how they treat us in good times, they’ll p-o on us in bad. Act accordingly.

The culture at Intel died years ago. I have found that no matter what happens in life it will all work out if you keep on going. No Fear!

It does not look like the culture will last long. The fate of the company is to fear now.

I hear you, but I think you are giving them too much credit in terms of their intent and intelligence.

I think they would much rather prefer a growing business where they can afford to pay employees a salary that is highly competitive and attract talent from other companies .. as opposed to layoff 15% of their workforce every year.
