Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone feel pressured to take retirement package?

Title. I don't want to leave this job, but I feel like I'm being forced out. I am 90% sure I will be ISP'd if I don't take enhanced retirement, which is a significantly smaller package.

The truth is, I work maybe 20 hours a week. Most people my age do. We busted our a-s when we were younger, and now we reap the rewards. I will not be able to find another job with this degree of work freedom - not to mention pay - elsewhere at my age.

Thoughts?

He must be a manufacturiong tech. There's a few good ones but most are like him, live in the break rooms, go home or to the movies/bars during shift. And when a lot of them finally do go back to the floor, they're drunk and/or stoned.

Why do people feed the trolls? The post is such a load of cr-p but people wrote long responses. You only need to spend about 10 minutes on this site reading posts and comments to figure the hot topics that draw controversy. This guy hit at least 3 of them. Maybe it’s good, it lets people vent during a stressful time.

ISP for this 2024 layoff session will be the same as a VSP or ERP in the USA !
ISP will begin after the ERP + VSP counts are in and accepted ! Aug 23rd - EoSept ! ISP BoOct - EoNov !
Closer to the Wafer is the CPM cutoff !
Then the reorg to other fab areas and tool sets will begin !
FSEs should hear more on their current contracts and tool starts and OMs !
Keep your heads up all ! Stay healthy during this Election Season ! Lmao boomers F'd us again !
Langkawi looks like a great island to hide away and live comfortably cheap !

How do you put in 20 hours a week? You actually have project to work on?

OP, I have heard from many people like you with the same dilemma. They still need to work for a 1-3 more years and either they simply won't be able to find another remotely comparable job (and usually don't want to admit it) and/or they are too comfortable in their current job. What other reason would you not be taking the ERP then? It doesn't make sense.

The management team is really at fault here. Anybody working 20 hours a week should have been weeded out a long time ago.

Think of it another way, if you don't take it, someone else will get the axe instead. Good chance it is going to be more personally and professionally impactful to that person who gets ISPed than you. You get the big fat ERP and are short distance from the promised land.

I bet most who are busting OP 20 hr's a week don't even work 5 hr's a week. There is a reason intel is messed up. You all messed up.

You spent and contributed your youth to Intel to produce many previous generation successful products to the world. You should be proud of that and accept the facts that when you are hired and paid to do some works you could also be let go and not getting paid anymore if there is no need at any time. Let move on with life and whatever coming next for you.

20 still much more than many people I know.
I almost tried to yell at my coworkers to stay at home watching your Netflix movies. Why did you come here to de-motivate others.

"The truth is, I work maybe 20 hours a week."

If true, you are dead weight and you need to leave. You are negatively impacting the morale of the people around you and poisoning the organization. Take a dignified early retirement before you are kicked out.

“I work maybe 20 hours a week. Most people my age do”

This why Intel is a failing company, because of people like you

“We busted our a-s when we were younger”

Just because you once worked hard doesn’t mean you don’t have to anymore. This level of entitlement is wild to me.

If you are ISPed and you are retirement eligible, I believe you get the enhanced retirement package still. It was .mentioned in multiple forums with HR reps. You can double confirm.
