Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Do SAP ever give you a payrise to stay?

I've never heard of this happening. It seems that if you get a better offer from another company, SAP will never try to convince you to stay with them.

It's not likely but I was able to get one. I applied to a small consulting firm externally that gave me a very nice offer and then my boss was able to match the 25 percent raise since he built a business case for me to stay to the next level leader and it was approved within 5 days when I told them I had a 5 day window to sign the contract to leave.

Granted I started at Ariba and had moved over to core SAP that year but I felt like I was still underpaid from an SAP perspective and decided to force my managements hand if they would match or let me go.

There is options for managers to trigger off cycle promotions / remuneration adjustments. Staff retention/ Counter-offer are some of the options available. Needs to be approved by next level manager but yes it happens.

There is a matching for absolutely high performer, but it’s unlikely to get matched if the other company isn’t Microsoft or Google.
Never heard of a match to a startup or small company offer.
Matching could also result in an absurd RSU package.
This is also a once in a lifetime thing, you won’t get matched twice and if you are matched, there is likely a flag to recheck if it was worth it.
Personally: if you decided to leave, don’t stay, if you just do it for the money: there are better ways (internal transfer, offcycle, peer matching)

Of course they do if you have skills that are vital to the company, your loss would be a huge backlash for the team and your manager knows about that. If you are a slacker however…

100% no, not ever, not even when things were better

Usually not because when people have outside offers they are usually 30-40% higher. SAP can’t match and HR doesn’t like chasing. Better off leaving and coming back in 3 years.
