Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Another round this week or next?

Hearing Strategic accounts being reduced by ~170 or so, out of last week's AOP, with an associated round of layoffs this week or next. Account teams being (further) gutted.

There’s no middle road for these sellers. Either high quality who can get another job very easily, but don’t because BC$$$.

And the useless remainder who barely know the products and have to rely on every other team to make their sale.

The latter is the larger group.

"Omnissa was dead on arrival" - They tried to build castle on top of fragile shanty with lot of legacy masons. AI will not fly. Omnissa must close down soon!

Omnissa was dead on arrival when KKR decided to keep the leadership. The new sales pipeline shrunk and renewals are few and far between. We're expecting another round of cuts. It's hopeless.

Yes, that's how it goes with TAMs. There is noting new under the sun.
I am sure many of them will go home soon.

Account team to TSE: Hello! My customer opened a ticket. Can you call them?

TSE: Yes, they just joined my zoom and we are getting started. Would you like to join?

Account team: Oh no, I just wanted to make sure you were aware they opened a case.

This friends, is the typical value add of the account team. The TSE was not only aware, they had to stop their work to chat with the SSM, TAM, or whatever do-nothing title has been awarded to that know-nothing account team. Been here almost 12 years, and remained baffled by what this company does sometimes.

Edit: Not this company anymore, of course. Old habit.

Add a bunch of fake pipeline to protect yourself! If you closed all your business for the year there’s a good chance you will be next!!

You don't need a sales team if you only have 4 SKUs.

Soon there will be nothing but managers and the staff+ level engineers who haven't done any real work in years left

Account teams are exactly what needs to be gutted. They simply add no value.

If I had an RSU for every time someone on a customer's account team asked me to do their job for them, I wouldn't need to work at Broadcom anymore.
